I had a similar issue and my cpu died. I would start testing components in the order of PSU, RAM, MOBO, CPU. Also try clearing cmos and resetting bios if you can.

Turns out it was my cpu. Pc is working great now. I'm just nervous about using memtest as a ram stability test since my pc died using it lol.

I would reinstall Windows and the run prime 95 and memtest 86 to check for stability.

I tried my ram in another pc and it worked fine. I also tried a new psu which did not help. It must be my mobo or cpu but I have no way of testing either of them, and local repair shops wont let me bring my cpu in for testing. Not sure what to do from here...

Well I took put the cmos battery and shorter the jumpers. No way to know for sure because I can't even get into bios now. Can't work on the pc until monday because I'm out of town.

Looking to get a z370 motherboard for an i5 8600k under $200 CADs. I was thinking of the msi Tomahawk or the MSI sli plus. I cant seem to find any differences between the two except for different sound chips and the reinforced second gpu slot. Are there any major differences between the two...

hmm ok. I agree with both of you. I don't think any am4 cpu will be significantly faster (if at all) than the 8600k at gaming. So 8600k seems like the right idea even though I don't want to support intel and their 6 month motherboard obsolescence among other unfair business practices. Anyways...

My question is should I spend extra money now for the 8600k or get a ryzen 5 1600 and save some money? The problem is I rather spend the extra money on the 8600k if I know there will be no am4 cpu that offers better gaming performance.
