It's most likely the game itself. As @xapoc stated the problems like this usually source from a crummy game port, bad game design, etc..

List your specs? I recommend just taking it apart and putting it back together to see if there's something you messed up on.

It most likely was, If your rig is trying to pump out power to two cards and there's only one plugged in it could've caused that.
