Yea, it would be just fine. You could do what I did get the high end CPU now and upgrade the gpu as time goes on. Not the smartest move money wise but it will work out.

It won't be fully balanced by the system, and there will be some wasted potential. It would work and stuff just fine. For example I'm rolling on with a 970, I rarely use my cpu past halfway before my GPU hits 100% usage.
