Hey fellas!
Okay so i've been talking with a few guys in here and was thinking of doing a upgrade on my 2nd rig.
My 2nd rig has these current stats. (family pc) but starting to be used more and more by friends when they are over for gaming.

Intel i5-2500k @ 3.30 Ghz not OC
Asrock z68 Extreme Gen 3
Geforce Gtx 770 OC 4gb

it obviously has more in terms of ssd, hdd but those 3 are the things i am considering upgrading.
So here is what i am struggling at, i can't decide what to upgrade.
i was thinking of doing a OC on my i5, get a new cooler and have that optimized and set.

Then upgrade my geforce 770 to 970 perhaps?
or should i replace my CPU, Mobo and stick with the 770?

Hope to get some nice advice!

oh 2 x XL2720Z @ 144hz

Everything I have seen so far indicates it is about 25% faster than the 770 in most applications at 1080p. The biggest change is that it uses less power, therefore generating less heat. This could be a big help in SLI configurations or if you don't have a huge PSU. The 970 is a 4gb card, so if you do higher resolutions it should handle that better than a 2gb 770. With the other features it adds and at a comparable price it is an easy choice over a 770, but as a replacement it comes down to if a 25% gain is worth $330. For about the same price you can get another 770 and go SLI and see bigger gains, but will be lacking the new features added in teh 9xx series. Tough choice, and one I am mulling over too.

In my personal experience my 970 hasn't failed me since.

Regarding which, lets first go with, are you doing a certain colored build? Are you looking to SLI? Any of them will get the job done, and all overclock within reasonable numbers.

I got the SC ACX 2.0

Hey! okay nice information! no this is my 2nd rig, my main rig is sli'ed up with 2 x 780, just want to optimize this as much as possible for future games too.
I'm a sucker for black and red - LoL! so ill be looking for a 970 in those colors.
I might Sli in the future, i don't know but i highly doubt it!

I've got two Strix 970's SLI'd, so I'm obviously partial to the Strix. Its cooling system is quite efficient and I like the use of the backplate. They also stay relatively cool and very quiet compared to other cards under max loads.
