    Question 4790K not working on a B85M-ITX

It is already at latest version, see my first post. Latest version as written in first post; it is 2.50 Chassis, GPU, SSD/HDD, OS and monitor do not matter: I am testing using 2 motherboards, same RAM and same PSU. The only part changing is the CPU and in one case it works, in another it does not.

    Question 4790K not working on a B85M-ITX

Hi there :) I have a working i5 + B85M-ITX setup and I recently got a 4790K CPU; the CPU works on a separate motherboard but when I replace it on the B85M-ITX and turn it on, fans are spinning and nothing else happens (no video). I notice that the power LED button near the power on button...

[SOLVED] Fastest 8-core CPU for 500$?

Nowhere I stated that only 8 cores will be used. I never said that.

Not concerned about the noise Are there other versions that V3 or V4?

[SOLVED] Best setup for a heavy duty compiler machine?

A 26xx CPU. I am now getting an E5-2698; I am still not sure whether I should mount it on the server or put it in a workstation board/case. Any thoughts?

[SOLVED] Fastest 8-core CPU for 500$?

I am getting a second-hand E5-2698; it's the best I could get with this budget. Now I need to think what to put around it...I need to decide between a server board or a workstation board

[SOLVED] Fastest 8-core CPU for 500$?

Now I am thinking that the FCLGA1200 would limit my choice in 2nd hand gear..what if I aim for FCLGA1151? Are there any 10 cores/20 threads on that older socket? Then I could fit it in a ProDesk G5 which is cheaper to find. It could be, but I am thinking that going with a too new socket will...

[SOLVED] Best setup for a heavy duty compiler machine?

8GB RAM suffice, so I will probably fit 16. They are both important aspects but faster is more important. Dell Poweredge R430, but we can get something better (2nd-hands, preferably) Thanks for the suggestions; noise shouldn't be a big problem, it can stay in its own area away from people, and...

[SOLVED] Fastest 8-core CPU for 500$?

Belgium; but I can order from nearby EU countries without many problems. Thanks, those look like interesting suggestions. I see that for intel it's FCLGA1200 socket and for AMD the AM4 one; so for an Intel one I could use a ProDesk G6 mini for example

[SOLVED] Fastest 8-core CPU for 500$?

Hi there :) What would be the fastest CPU I can get for 500$, even second hand or refurbished? 8 cores or more needed I have been looking around to get an idea; I need this for incredibly heavy compilation jobs (think about compiling Gentoo packages all the time). I will choose what goes...

[SOLVED] Best setup for a heavy duty compiler machine?

Hi there, I have an unusual request from a friend: to help building a heavy duty machine that has many cores and strong CPU. It will be used to compile huge C++ projects that take quite long time (hours) even with caching and lots of RAM. My question is: what do you advise? I have been...
