Ummm what? Optical is digital. It should be Dolby and all that stuff. Optical supports Dolby digital 5.1. Unless its your pc that doesn't support it. I have been installing home theater systems for years. Until HDMI came along all Dolby was run optical. Perhaps some of the new formats are not...

OK, I don't think a splitter is the best way to go. It can cause other oddity's when testing. If you can get something to get it going from friends or family just to test with that would be a good thing. It would be silly to buy anything to try this out. I guess when you can try it, when the...

When you have both running, right click on the desktop, select display settings, find the dropdown menu labeled Multiple displays, and select duplicate these displays.

After browsing the owners manual a little it would appear to me that when windows is booting its missing a handshake passed around the system. Just as boju was suggesting. If it works plugged straight to the tv like you said try this. Plug the PC directly to the tv. Plug a second monitor in...

This isn't a fix but it might give us a little more info to what's happening. With the pc powered on, try unplugging the HDMI from it, and plug it back in. If you haven't, (but I am sure you have) Try cycling the power on and off at the TV and the receiver while leaving the pc on.

ok. So the PC is local to the tv. Does the av receiver have an on screen display projected to the tv? If it does, basically what I am interested to know is if when the tv displays "no input" and you were to turn up the volume if it is displayed on screen still.

I wonder if its an HDCP issue. Does the GTX670 support HDCP? If not the Tv probably wont accept the image.
