Have you checked that your ram isn't being maxed out? I can imagine that after downloading your programs that you need, 8GB is used up quickly with todays gaming titles and software, when you make a fresh install of windows you will be using a lot less ram than after a few weeks or months...

i would recommend getting fastest RAM, possible and get a minimum of 4GB. If you have 32-bit OS get 4GB but if You have 64-bit try around 8 to 16GB.
