If you only render occasionally, I'd go for the i5. It depends largely on the codec you use, but the i7 might shave off a fourth or a third of the render time. There's no big difference in gaming performance. I really recommend getting an SSD for your OS. It speeds everything up so much!

I see no issue there. What you might be referring to as "blur" is intended transparency. I believe you can turn this off in Chrome settings, if you don't like it. Try moving the window, and you'll see the texture on the unselected tabs change depending on what is behind them.

There is no issue here, unless this didn't happen before. Almost all displays change colors when viewed from other angles. Some displays just handle it better then others.
