Question Intel vs AMD & PCIe Lanes ?

Okay, so it seems it would be more so the motherboard/chipset than the CPU itself. That's fine, I suppose I can just stick with intel at this point (I don't like PGA and I assume AMD is still using it). I will do some hunting from here to see what I can find, I'll check back here when I've...

Question Intel vs AMD & PCIe Lanes ?

Hello, first I would like to formally thank you for taking the time to read the question and respond if you have an answer. I'm asking the community rather than digging around because its a little difficult to get past all of the marketing BS between AMD and Intel. to be honest, I don't care...

    Discussion X5470 to X5472

Fair enough. Building computers, making small tweaks to get just a little bit more performance and benchmarking are all fun hobbies for me. Not everyone feels the same way about that, and I can respect it. Was just explaining how quick the process would be, I don't think I'd do this if it took...

    Discussion X5470 to X5472

I'll be using a graphite thermal pad during the testing. I have enough paste if thermals become an issue. It really only takes 5 minutes or less to change the processor.

    Discussion X5470 to X5472

The system is easily accessible, and changing the processor will only take about 5 minutes.

    Discussion X5470 to X5472

The interesting aspect of this is that the processor clock speed difference is about 11%, and the processor single thread performance difference is 13.4%, which is well within the margin of error. It's interesting to find out if increasing the processor bus bandwidth from 1333 MHz to 1600 MHz...

    Discussion X5470 to X5472

The performance comparison on userbenchmark is assuming the processors will be running at their base clock speeds. I will be running 2 waves of tests, the first wave will match the processors to the same clock speed. The second wave will allows the X5470 to run at 4.48 GHz. While the X5470 will...

    Discussion X5470 to X5472

Hello everyone! I am going to be "upgrading" a system running a Xeon X5470 to a Xeon X5472 and figured this would make for a neat discussion. Do you think there will be any performance increases/decreases and why? Note: This is obviously a project for fun and I have a modern system. The...

    [SOLVED] Problem with ddr2 ram.

You know that the motherboard supports Intel Core 2 Quad right? You might see quite a performance uplift by using a Q8300, most Core 2 processors go for a decent price online

Question Low, inconsistent fps for 3070 ti

Other things to try: Limit the maximum frame rate. Try doing a DDU again, but install a previous version of drivers instead. You really should take a look in GPU-Z to ensure your card is getting x16 bandwidth and not x8 or x4. Using MSI Afterburner/Rivatuner Statstics, monitor a problem game's...

[SOLVED] Power-throttling issue on Asus Rog G752VS Laptop ?

This sounds like a BIOS issue. Does this power limit occur when plugged in and unplugged? When the battery is removed? Are you on the latest bios for your CPU? Have you done any research for your particular laptop model to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue? It could be a defect...
