    Raid0 capacity question...

150GB. Stripe width=how many drives. It's how many drives by the smallest drive. In this case you have three drives. The smallest of which is 50GB, so 50x3. The other 70GB on that 120 you have is wasted.

Self contained, multi-bay external RAID enclosure

Thanks folks for the help, but I think I'm going to revert to an internal solution and completely revamp my drive setup. I'm going to go with the new Adaptec 6805 when it comes out and move the drives into the case.

Self contained, multi-bay external RAID enclosure

Thanks, guys! I've posted up on teh Mediasonic forums for some interior pics. I think that enhance-tech stuff, while nice, may be much. It seems they some with drives as well, of which I already have...and that's $1k as well. :D

Self contained, multi-bay external RAID enclosure

Thanks. But as it's a stripe (or even a mirror) that won't do it. I see they have that WD ShareSpace, but it's only a NAS. Why they don't have an eSata connection as well...would seem simple to do.

Self contained, multi-bay external RAID enclosure

For the past few years, I've been using a Sans Digital TR4UT in a RAID5 setup and has been working pretty well. Only now have I realized that it's cooling ability rivals that of the sun. There is a fan in the back, but its location behind the backplane renders it useless and the power supply...

Move image from a single drive to Raid 5?

A RAID 5 setup for your system isn't exactly performance oriented. However, not knowing the typical usage of your system, performance may not be of great concern.

Had 2 of thest fail at the same time

There are things you can do to recover the data. There have been a couple of instances where I had a similar issue and certain SW was able to find and move the data. In other cases, I had picked up an identical replacement and swapped the platters with more or less success (natutally, then...

    2 NVIDIA cards Multiple Monitors

Yes you can. I'm running three with my main in SLI. I'm doing 2x 460s which drive a 24" Samsung in SLI and an 8800GT dedicated for PhysX that is driving two 20" Samsungs. From an SLI perspective, so long as the monitor that is for SLI is chosen as your main, you'll be good to go. For your...

LG's Shows Off World's Thinnest OLED TV at CES

nebuni like how all the cable connections are integrated in the base, clean, very clean Agreed, but from what I can tell, kind of renders the fact that it's so thin moot. Kind of complicates your wall mounting options a bit.

    Best Web Hosting Option?

I've used 1and1 for some time but eventually move over to bluehost. I thought their interface was much more user friendly. The other advantage was they host out of Chicago, which suited my needs better as I was running a Chicago-centric site so it worked out from a latency perspetive. I've...

Can connect wirelessly and without the router, but not with both

Is the modem from your ISP a wireless version as well? Is she constantly connecting to that? If so, every time you change the connection between modem and your PC or router, you need to reboot the modem. On the assumption that it's similar to the Surfboard modems, they only like seeing one...

Lan card is of 1000 mbps speed but it is showing 100mbps

There are a few incorrect statements here. The link speed is only determined by the device it's connecting to. If your NIC is 1G and your switch or router that it's physically connected to will do 1G, you will be 1G. If there's a downstream link somewhere else that's 100Mb or even 10Mb...

    Switch Issues

I can't see the pic at the moment, but all your devices are on the same broadcast domain. A switch seperates collision domains. Any device that's within the same broadcast domain can still affect others to a certain extent. To truely be isolated, you'd need a better router where you would be...

Traceroute and ping work, but not browser

When you ping and trace, are you using the IPs or the DNS names? If the former, then it sounds like your DNS settings may be incorrect since you mentioned your setting a static IP. In terms of not getting a dynamic IP, being XP, ensure that all your settings are set properly (both IP and DNS...

Wireless routers and a hardware firewall

If you're trying to use one wireless router to split it up, unless the thing can do multiple SSIDs, then no, you can't. You'd need two wireless routers. Once that's done, you wouldn't really need the FW anymore unless you want that extra security there. In that scenario it would be: Router...
