Thank you guys for your responses. The problem turned out to be that with my specific socket, you need to put rubber fittings on the screws for them to fit properly. The manual is just trash

I tried forcing it down, it just bounced back up out of the socket

I have an I7 4790. It reaches temps of 100C under load while the fan just hovers around 1800RPM. i have tried setting the minimum cpu fan speed to 87,5% in the bios, but it changes nothing.

My I7 4970 is running with the stock cooler with no overclocking but reaches 100 degrees without 100% usage, is this normal? should i get a new cooler?

I still haven't got it to work, however i bought a HDMI to DVI cable, so now im using my DVI and HDMI output from my graphicscard.
