Hello everyone smarter than me! Turns out I'm dumber than I thought, because I can't seem to make my new laptop work the way I want it to. I have an ASUS GL-502VY laptop, which has both an i7 6700hq and a nvidia gtx 980m. By default, the 980m kicked in, and I got pretty horrible battery life...

I'm going to assume it wasn't a good clock, as it was incredibly unstable outside of benchmarking programs and crashed more often than it held steady.
