2 480s are roughly equal to a gtx 1080 which will handle 4k. All the benchmarks ive seen indicate that CF 480s can handle 4k just fine.

If you get the 8gb 480, you can crossfire it later if you step up to 4k without being vram limited. thats the reason i use to justify it to myself anyway :p also, the i5 is a great option, but zen is on its way if you're not in a hurry. i suspect i7 performance for i5 price with zen.

from what i understand about PSUs (which admittedly is not a lot) a bad psu shouldnt cause those symptoms. I also highly doubt you hurt the mobo. did you update the driver after you reinstalled? if not, make sure to try that.

Need moar details! What is your system setup and what temps are you getting? My guess would be that its throttling due to temps, but i cant say without knowing temps. Did you run the stability test? what was the result?
