I have an Asus computer monitor, not a TV. Can I program a universal remote to control sound for the monitor or is this not possible?

UPDATE: Display port is working now but within the GeForce Control Panel, I still only get 60 Hz max ref rate.

So, I just bought a brand new Asus VG248QE 3D Monitor and I have a brand new GTX Titan X and a brand new DisplayPort cable, but I cannot get the monitor to detect on DisplayPort and therefore have a 144Hz monitor that can only run at 60Hz (HDMI). So what am I doing wrong? I've updated my Nvidia...

Ok so I'm getting between 23 and 25 FPS for the settings and screen that I have right now. How do I make that higher? Shouldn't I be getting 50-60?

I'm not sure that it does unfortunately but I will go through the settings and look for that.

Ok last question: After reading up a bit it sounds like with that monitor an HDMI cable can only achieve 60 Hz. What cable architecture should I use to achieve maximum performance?
