I upgraded my RAM from 8GB to 24GB. Problem went away.

I have a 7200rpm HDD, but my SSD is pretty small and really only has my operating system on it. Didnt know that could cause issues. I'll look into it.

I was curious I'd that was the problem, so earlier today I order 16GB of ram. We shall see if that fixes it. My only other suspicion is that the GTX970 only has 3.5GB of vram. I suppose I could be running out of that.

I updated the BIOS drivers and everything works smoothly now. I didnt know what BIOS was till about 5 minutes ago....im computer retarded

I may have been a bit unclear so i apologize for that. My xps15 has 2 RAM slots. I REMOVED the 2 x 2GB factory RAM cards and REPLACED them with 2 x 4GB G.Skill RAM cards of the exact same Mhz. Now it lags. sorry for any confusion
