Basically, just tell him he needs all new hardware, save the case possibly. And no, he shouldn't get a 7870 xx, he should get a 270x 4gb version unless he can spend the extra for a 280x.

According to your linked parts list, a 280x is cheaper and will easily outperform running on Mantle a 770 in BF4 . Just FYI.
