    Info For "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO" errors -- A Solution

I know what you're trying to say, but these days 'processor' and 'cpu' are synonymous (even in Windows itself). A 'central processing unit' may have many 'processors' or 'cores' (the latter two also synonymous). I never said MSCONFIG was TASK MANAGER--I distinguished a difference between them...

    Info For "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO" errors -- A Solution

Look at your 'CPU Usage History' on the Performance tab of Task Manager. If you see multiple small graph/screens there, that's the number of processors Windows is using.

    Info For "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO" errors -- A Solution

Oh, I know. You're not supposed to mess with it (much). But, it can make booting faster, and did with Vista--but...my CPU was of lesser number of cores. I guess compatibility varies. Sometimes you can set it and not have a problem; other times, nope. At any rate, I don't touch that setting (or...

    Info Power Supply Tester

These power supply testers are still useful for the average computer person, in the case of them having a computer that isn't turning on, showing no PSU fan working, and needing to find out "Is it the power supply, or what?" Plugging the PSU into it, you find out pretty quick if the fan spins...

    Info Power Supply Tester

The LED lights won't light if under a certain thresh-hold, indicating the PSU is bad.

    Info For "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO" errors -- A Solution

Recently, I suffered through the "BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO" error that occurs when messing with the MSCONFIG processors and something not being compatible when you change that (to 1 processor, or to 6; either way, I've read where some had the same error going either way). So, okay, apparently the...

    Info Power Supply Tester

Power Supply Tester I thought I would share this for those who might not have thought of getting one. Many wonder 'Is it my power supply?' when something is going wrong. Well, they have testers for that. I recently got one, and it works great--in telling one if a PSU is good or bad, or if a...

Question Battery on Aorus B450 I Pro Wifi

It worked!!! :D I used tweezers and a tiny screwdriver to lift the plastic battery jumper up off its two pins (done through the back, since the I/O shield wasn't there after I removed the motherboard from the case) then I waited awhile, during which time I used a screwdriver to (once again)...

Question Battery on Aorus B450 I Pro Wifi

I heard back from Gigabyte, actually, and have this: While Gigabyte's eSupport mentioned the usual about using a screwdriver to clear CMOS at THAT jumper pin (already did that), they did also mention "the battery will require you to completely remove the board from the case and unscrew the...

Question Battery on Aorus B450 I Pro Wifi

A closer look: Plug for battery about the middle of the picture, under the metal guard.

Question Battery on Aorus B450 I Pro Wifi

Yes, I've done that already; which is why I wrote in my original post that I need to do more than that with the issues I'm having. The connector for the battery is under the metal thermal guard/shield, and there does not appear room for it to lift, and certainly not room to maneuver tweezers...

Feature Show us Your Case Mods

I posted this in another thread (member systems gallery), but it can go here, too, I guess, since it's more specific. My Black Widow Tower has an hourglass mod that I did: I used a grinder to cut into the steel door after much measuring (didn't want to mess it up, and fortunately didn't). I...

    Tom's Hardware Member System Gallery

This is my Black Widow Tower. It has had several motherboards in it over time--all by the now defunct ABIT. I'm also an AMD CPU person. The unique feature about it is, of course, the hourglass mod. I cut that into the steel door myself--sparks flying from the grinder and all--put the plexiglass...

Question Battery on Aorus B450 I Pro Wifi

I wrote Gigabyte (got a support ticket) but so far have heard nothing at all about my question, so I thought I would put it out here. (and I also searched the net, but didn't find any helpful information on this) On the Gigabyte Aorus B450 I Pro Wifi Mini-ITX motherboard, the battery is sort of...
