Question Why is my laptop constantly running in turbo boost?

I had a fairly similar problem, maybe this will be useful. Check the minimum CPU state in your current power plan settings. If the minimum state is unreasonably high, over 50% (whether the laptop is charging or not), try lowering it to ~10%.

Question Question about the laptop gpu !

Are you sure this laptop has a dedicated card too? I think this model might only have the integrated one.

[SOLVED] A cracking sound in laptop headhpones when... fridge turns off??? I know how this sounds.

Yeah, everything checks out. Different circuit causes no issues at all. I realize that this isn't exactly a laptop topic anymore, but maybe you would be kind enough to tell me if this is a circuit problem or a fridge problem? And can I do anything about it (as in fixing this) or is this for the...

[SOLVED] A cracking sound in laptop headhpones when... fridge turns off??? I know how this sounds.

Hello everyone! Alright it's a weird one. Unless it's well known and I just don't know how to google it. I've moved to a new place, and my work station is in the general vicinity of a fridge. Just a regular fridge, without any additional functions, screens, etc. It turns the cooling on and off...

Question Buzzing sound, 15% - is it normal or a cause for concern?

https://vocaroo.com/i/s0nxx0CoTkfK That's "mostly" it, as in "live" it seems quieter, and the hissing sound is mostly air from fans, as I used my crappy phone to record and placed it close to what I think is the source of the sound.

Question Buzzing sound, 15% - is it normal or a cause for concern?

Hello! Some time ago I started a thread here asking about buzzing sound which started coming from my laptop after I owned it for two years. In short, the buzzing starts when the laptop has been in use for about half an hour and is definitely associated with CPU usage, because it starts sometime...

Question Internet from a local provider (their antenna & modem -> wired to my router) dramatically slowed down

I think it is possible that my antenna is out of position, albeit definitely not by much. Checking the signal sounds like a good idea, could you tell me how to do it? What's the word for the signal that I want to check the strength of? As in, if I were to google it, which phrase would I google...

Question Internet from a local provider (their antenna & modem -> wired to my router) dramatically slowed down

Hello! I have the Internet provided by a local provider. They installed an antenna on the roof of my house, it's wired to a modem of theirs (located in my house of course), which is wired to my router and I use both wireless and wired connection to various devices in the house from there. For a...

Buzzing sound - is this the SSD or a fan and what's my best course of action?

Hello! I own an Acer Aspire VN7-792G laptop, had it for over a year and a half. It's a great machine and never had any problems before, nor did I go for any "personalization", as in it's still just how I bought it in terms of setup and everything. About two months ago, I noticed that whenever...

Question Mouse disconnects and reconnects/breaks when wheel is pressed

I tried it both ways, the result is the same. The mouse returns to normal I'd say 7/10 times, sometimes it doesn't work at all, sometimes it's like it was before the restart. But I now noticed that a thing identical to what happens when the wheel is pressed happens when I click the left button...

Question Mouse disconnects and reconnects/breaks when wheel is pressed

Hello! I bought a new mouse today. For a few good hours, it worked great, but suddenly it started to act weird. When I press the wheel to open or close a tab or do anything else which requires pressing it, the mouse disconnects and reconnects. Alternatively, it doesn't disconnect, but messes...

Downloading files from a damaged Compact Flash card (I know they are still on it)

Alright, I got answered in another place. If anybody ever has a similar problem, for me Zero Assumption Recovery (ZAR) program did the trick and I recovered all my files.

Downloading files from a damaged Compact Flash card (I know they are still on it)

Hi everyone, first time posting here. I have a Kingston Ultimate 266X 16GB compact flash card, which I've been using for quite a long time. It has always been very reliable, unfortunately today something finally went wrong. I'm using a USB adapter to move files to and from the card, but this...
