Question RTX 2070 on Dell Precision T3500?

Know you have probably already returned the item. My thought is it's your worstation. Nothing wrong with it. Just fact that your card will not boot with the older Legacy BIOS used by the Dell T3500. UEFI option did not start until the T3600 series.

    [SOLVED] T7500 compatibility

The Dell T5500/7500 motherboards are based on the Intel 5520 server chipset so dual QPI link CPUs must be used, even in single CPU operation. Here is the compatibility list. W3680 and W3690 are single QPI processors and will not work in your system. Fastest for your machine is X5687 = 4-core...

6+2 is an 8 pin. Connector is split for convenience if only a 6-pin is needed.

Using old power supply on new rig

That model PSU has a 60-amp 12-volt rail. Should be plenty to power a decent graphics card and CPU. PCP&C were very good. Have a 425w unit that I bought in 2003 that still holds 1-2% tolerance under heavy load in my WinXP gaming rig.

PSU has no 6pin. What to do?

SATA to 6-pin. Definitely not. Two molex to 6-pin. Possibly, but not ideal. Another consideration is voltages. An older PSU may be stronger on the 3.3-volt and 5-volt rails but weaker on 12-volt than power supplies made for newer systems. To conclude ... get a better PSU.

That card only needs one 8-pin connector. So the first one will be sufficient if the one on your PSU is not long enough.

Testimony of GTX card for Dell Precision T5500- BIOS and mobo versions

Hello Yes, 1060 should work fine in the T5500. Do as william p suggested and upgrade to both latest BIOS and motherboard Intel chipset driver. This will give maximum possible compatibility, including use of high end Westmere CPUs. Fastest of which would be the X5687 which will make a for a great...

My Dell T5500 Workstation not booting from USB

Hello. I run Win10 in Dell T5500. To cover the obvious ... go into BIOS > System Configuration > USB controller, ensure "enabled" is checked. Double check on other system that your USB key can be read. If so try wiping the key then re-configuring the drive with boot image again.

looking for a CPU upgrade for Dell T5500 (sorry i'm noob)

Hello, Just here to confirm post above. I am running Dell T5500 with exact same motherboard and X5687. Being that you are running a Westmere CPU currently, as in X5647, the latest BIOS (=A16) must be installed already. So you are good to go. If interested, here is the Intel compatibility page...
