I guess they must not have tested models before the 980, but I can't imagine the 970 models not working on that motherboard. Both the motherboard and the SSD are one of the most popular models on the market. I don't think MSI could afford those SSDs not working on that motherboard.

Given that you have a case that supports it though. I mean, your case probably doesn't even have the cutouts where the connectors would sit/cables pass through.. It's just that all these new technologies are brand new or on the verge of being released and hopefully be mainstream soon.

You're absolutely correct. Then checking the BIOS page again, the most recent BIOS version one is the only one that mentions it is a beta version. 7C02v1J1(Beta version) is the version you're looking for.

The BIOS support page doesn't show any of the newest BIOSes to support the 5xxxX3D chips. You simply can't be sure those chips will work on your motherboard. Your best bet is to contact them directly.

I would say no. Judging from your motherboard's CPU Support page on the ASRock website, it won't work. It does not list the Ryzen 2000 series as compatible.
