I got rid of the stock fan a while back, it started buzzing loudly.. replaced it with the thin lower profile noctua fan so i think it's about the same height. Probably better to leave it attached.

Sorry, i missed that in the specs. I backup to an external hard drive fairly often (usually once a week). I've never done a raid before, is it prone to failure often? Would I be better off just spending the extra cash for one 2TB drive?
