Dont use soft-shadows & physx. Also Enviroment quality also has a high performance hit.(or at least it did on my old 560, didnt check the difference with a 970). Try it with normal enviroment quality and normal/medium shadows. You can probably then turn up some other settings.

I play sometimes on my laptop with my mobile-internet SWTOR and it varies. There were days when i played a like 6 hours and only used 10-15mbs. Then there times when it used like 100mb/s. And pretty much the did the same thing.
