After some testing it might just be a program error. No other application I've been able to test has had the same issue (various games, mysql, filezilla, java, movies, itunes etc. ). Still no idea what would cause such behaviour though, maybe some iPhone driver related issue? I have no clue.

I'd get another, more up to date motherboard if you could. It only supports 1333mhz stock speed, but you can overclock it to meet the 1600mhz or 1866mhz. Though the easiest is to get a better mobo. The CPU fits perfectly though. I would get a R9 290x or GTX 970 gpu, whichever you find the most...

Yeah sure you can. I'm currently using it myself and I have no issues with it whatsoever. It's a cheap alternate to Intel and imo it delivers as expected.
