    Skylake is better than most of the other Intel processors. But Intels 6 and 8 core will be the crowned champion but it's also you pay for what you get.

    Should I put in my GTX 960?

    A 960 needs a 400w minimum. A 330w can break your components. If I were you I would get a PSU that has about 500w just to be safe. Also I don't know which PSU that is because that came with the desktop.

    I can't see your list but Skylake runs cool so most coolers that support 155x should be good. Personally I got a H100i gtx over kill but better safe than sorry. Also IPS and TN both have their pros and cons. 144hz is the refresh rate (fps). If you have a card that can manage 100+ fps go for it...

    GTX950 is better than the 750ti that's first. Also the PSU requirements for the 950 is 350 but I still highly recommend going higher than the minimum requirements especially depending on your cpu.

    Well him to want a 970. Already tells me he has 1080p monitor that does 144hz. He probably has the ASUS 144hz monitor. Also the difference is not huge between the 970 and 980 but is noticeable. Most game will run at 10-20 fps higher on a 980.
