Negative, sorry. I already packed up the HDD for RMA. I don't see any reason to not just get it replaced at this point.

Thanks for the advice/suggestions. I share your policy of RMAing anything that has any initial problems, so I'll do that I guess. Kind of annoying tho... ...on a semi-related note, I ran the short and long tests on an old working HDD (I can access the files) and it also failed both tests...

Under the "Basic Tests" drop-down, I ran both the "Short Generic" and "Long Generic" tests. Sounded closest to what you were saying to do. Both test results came up as "Short (Long) Generic - FAIL". I also ran the "Short Drive Self Test" and "S.M.A.R.T Check", both of which Passed.

The only other drive is the one Windows is in which is a 1TB m.2 Samsung SSD.

I just built my dad a new computer (Ryzen 5800x / B550 Aorus Pro AC) and it all works except the new HDD (Seagate 16TB Exos X16 7200RPM 512e/4kn ST16000NM001G) holds up the startup process and won't accept a partition. I've tried 2 methods to partition and get the following error messages...

Interesting. I just got the parts for a new PC for my dad that has most of those same parts. Has 5800x, B550 MB, GTX 1080 (he doesn't game so I gave him mine and getting 3080 for me), and the same Lian Li case. Keep in mind the Ryzen CPUs are hard to get right now since they're all back ordered...

What do you mean when you say the same ground as the desk. Why would a desk be grounded?
