Hey all! First time ive come across such a plastic notch. The drive sits on top of it and pops off.. it looks like i can detach the top section and re-pop it in through the notch on the drive. I applied a bit of force to try to pop it off, but im scared to snap it.. anyone come across smth...

Another thing you can check, is also if your BIOS is an older version. MSI released a few months ago updated BIOS with better support for the Alder Lake architecture

That board doesn't support DDR5... on MSI's website says it supports DDR4. (Unless its the MAG Tomahawk) Also, the i5 12600k supports DDR5 speeds of up to 4800MHz.. any more might cause problems with the memory controller.
