Ok guys, I am thinking of building myself a PC for gaming. Problem is I only have a £300 budget. I've been looking around and found some stuff. Not looking to play too intensive games, GTR Evo mostly but want something future proof

Mobo: ?
RAM: Corsair 800mhz 2x 2gb £30
Case: ADVANCE 8808KP KAPPA PC Tower £30
PSU: Colors 650W Gold 12Cm Silent Atx Power Supply £30
HDD: DESKSTAR 7K1000.B 320GB SATA-II 3.5IN 7200RPM 16MB 0A38018 £30
CPU: ?
GFX: Gigabyte GV-N95TOC-1GI NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 1GB ATX HDMI Graphics Card £60

Ok, so as you can see, I need a mobo and CPU. Planning on a Core 2 Duo, so would need a Mobo that can handle that and also SLI so if I need to upgrade, I can stick another 9600gt in. What kind of Core 2 Duo would you recomend for my build so far? Trying to keep as small a price as possible.

Also, one last thing, do those parts seem trustworthy enough? Especially the card. 1gb 9600gt for £60 sounds to good to be true but it's Gigabyte, who I know are good.

Got £130 left, but if you can get any of the parts above cheaper or recommend something better or whatever, that'd be great .

swap the 9600gt for a 4670, £5 cheaper but just as powerful.

drop that psu for a Silverpower 500w, I think they're £47.50 at scan but it will be more reliable and powerful.

that leaves you £110 left, get a 7750 BE £55 and an Asus M3A78-CM for £58.

If you already have a HD(IDE or SATA) then drop the HD for a dvd-rom drive since they are only £11 which frees up £19 for a nice cooler so you can oc the 7750 to 3.5ghz.

Ok thanks, I have already got a DVD-RW spare somewhere but not HDD, that's why it is how it is ;). So, different PSU, got it. And yes, I plan to overclock.

I'll look at the E1200, sounds awesome. I'll look at the other two mentioned as well.

The reason I went for 9600gt btw Helloworld is because of better driver support, only going to play on low-res and can OC nVidia cards better I've heard.

Had a look at the CPUs. 7750 BE looks good. Would like a cheaper mobo if possible, remember I'd like to keep it as far under budget as possible.

AM2+ mobo's aren't cheap and that one come's with displayport for future proofing.

cheapest am2+ mobo I can find which is decent is only £2 cheaper than that one and only has half the dimm slots and no dp output.

tbh, the 4670 is your best bet, on a non-dual GPU mobo.

well mainstream has changed, it went up £50 just last week :)

ATI is owning nvidia in the lower end at the moment, the 9500GT that was in that list, you can get a 4670 for a quid more. 4670's are just as powerful as 9600GT's aswell.
