Notes: I'm using it for work (ERP/accounting/excel), gaming, streaming movies, and web surfing. 1080p 60Hz only. Budget is <$1,000 and lower is better but based on what I've read this is the most optimal build. Thoughts?

Do you own and are reusing the case and PSU?

2x8GB DDR4-3200 = $120
DLink 802.11ac adapter = $30 after promo code EMCTUTD48
Gigabyte B450 Aorus = $90
You can get good RX580's for $190, none on sale now, but this MSI model is $200 after MIR at the moment.

How far is your desktop from your router? Before spending $85 on a high-end network adapter, I would run an ethernet cable if at all possible, which should be more reliable and a bit faster.

How far is your desktop from your router? Before spending $85 on a high-end network adapter, I would run an ethernet cable if at all possible, which should be more reliable and a bit faster.

The desktop to router is 3 rooms apart or 40 ft in direct cable length. Unfortunately I can't hard wire it through the walls due to the room configurations. The cable would have to run directly through the hallway and go under 2 doors. While possible it's not practical or aesthetically pleasing at all.

Have you looked into powerline network adapters?
