I have a 1000mb/s tp link and 1 gb/s internet however I just don't seem to be getting the numbers to support what I have.
any ideas on what to try?
ethernet status says speed 1.0 gbps however download on Ookla says 30 mb/s it's really confusing.

Your internet subscription plan is 1Gbps? Cable? What is your modem brand/model?

Oops. You were talking about powerline adapters. Powerline adapters usually sucks because there are a lot of noises in the electric wires. getting just 1/10 of the spec's speed is normal. You were getting even worse result, just 1/30 of the speed, however. You can try different electric outlets but don't expect too much.

If you have coaxial cables in the rooms, then use MOCA adapters, which will run at claimed rated speed. Cheaper solution of course will be just use ethernet cable.

I would first test the units in the same room if you have 2 easy to access outlets If you have a long power strip plug them both in that. Normally you do not want to use power strip but for a test it is good.

At least you have the ones that claim 1000. The older ones that say 500 or 600 it was very common to only get 30mbps. The bad news is the ones that say 1000 or even 2000 get less than 150mbps in most houses.

The speed you get is greatly determined by the path the wires take in your house. Many times the signals need to go all the way to the power panel and back. In addition depending on how your breakers are setup in the panel there maybe some loss going between breakers.

All you can really do with powerline networks is try other outlets and hope to get lucky
