Thanks for all the input last post! One more thing... With my
6600GT 128 meg things seem to hum along just fine EXCEPT - games
such a Call of Duty, Madden 2005 and UT2003 seem to 'pause' once in a
while. It happens on all resolutions. Could this be because I have
512 meg and need 1 gig?

Thanks again...

XP does like its memory and RAM prices are good at the moment, so it's
probably worth the investment to try upping it to 1gb.

XP will eat up more the 512 megs if you have it. I have 1GB of ram and
usually with just the basics running I only have around 400 meg left over.
It's well worth the small investment for the extra 512megs. It really helps
make games run smoother and it really helps with load times. JLC

There is a great free utility called Memstatus that keeps track of
your maximum used Main and Video RAM so you can find out if you need
more.

Those games aren't major resource hogs, but if you are running XP the
chances are a bit more RAM would help.

I only found 2 links for this application (MemStatus_24.zip), and both
were broken. You got one that works?

Please replace the "NoSpam" with "MCI" in my email address in order to

Hmm, I just had a search around and I can't find it anywhere, sorry.
The version I use is 2.4 and the author is Kevin Reems, but that is
all the information the utility provides.

Another thing would be check your cpu isn't overheating and throttling
down.
