1 RAM stick?

I want 16gb of memory on my pc, but the motherboard has 4 slots. Would the system run fine if I just use 1/4 slots? And if i were to upgrade in the future (which i doubt since its 16gb), would I have to get the same exact ram stick to make it 32, or get a kit of 2 and put that in the second dual channel? Any info will help

Ryzen without dual channel performs a quite a bit slower. I recommend you get a 2x8gb kit of the fastest speed you can afford. It really makes a difference with ryzen.
