Hey guys,

I just wanted to know what this means? Is this the power supplied for the CPU or what? I'm after this https://www.scan.co.uk/products/500w-evga-80-plus-fully-wired-single-rail-40a-plus12v-intelligent-auto-fan-1x-120mm-fan-atx-psu because it has enough power, 6+2 pins which is awesome and fully modular. I would like to use it with the MSI Z170A Gaming M5. When I go to the MSI website: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/Z170A-GAMING-M5.html#hero-specification it mentions - 1 x 24-pin ATX main power connector
- 1 x 8-pin ATX 12V power connector
- 6 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors

but it doesn't mention anything regarding CPU connector, it only mentions 2x4+4pin CPU FAN connector... Help would be really appreciated

but what is the purpose of this? like 6+2 pin pcie is for gpu i understand but what about this?

Take my motherboard for example:
It was very cheap, all that I could afford when I bought it, given that it only has a 4 pin CPU power header..
My PSU is a very nice unit, that has a 4+4 connection. If it had a single 8 pin (non separable) I could not use it on my motherboard as it only has a 4 pin CPU header.

If you are asking where it goes, its the port just above the CPU socket.

Dude, I'm asking what it controls, does it control power to CPU or CPU fan or what?
