I have a ''gaming'' laptop which has a HDMI and a VGA output. I would like to connect said laptop to a 120/144hz monitor. I am aware that neither of these display outputs can handle 1080p @ 120hz. What I would like to know is; if I turn down the resolution to say 1024*768, will either of these connections be able to output 120/144hz.
For the sake of the question lets assume that the laptop is perfectly capable of running games at 144hz. (basically it's for playing CSGO, I'll be playing other games 1080p @60hz anyway.)
Sorry if this has been answered before, but I have failed to find a definitive answer anywhere.
The laptop is an MSI ge60
I haven't decided on a monitor yet, but it's probably going to be a lg 24gm77 unless none of this works.
Thanks in advance for all the help.
