[SOLVED] 12100f vs 12400f vs 5600x for server hosting

Hello, I'm looking forward to building a home server for mass storage and server hosting. The most important part right now is the server hosting part, I have plans in hosting dedicated servers (one at a time) to play with my friends but I can't find any comparisons that talk about those two CPUs for those purposes.

Where I'm from the 12100f is selling for 110€ and the 12400f for 203€, and I plan on having both on a 150€ MSI PRO B660M-A so that I'm ready for the next gen in a few years. The servers are going to be heavily modded games like heavily modded Minecraft. Alternatively I have a system planned out with a 5600x for 229€ with a B450M PRO-VDH Max for 77€ or a 110€ B550M Pro-VDH (All prices are store bought prices)

Note that the Micro-ATX format for the motherboards is on purpose. As for RAM I'd be running all three systems on 16GB 3200Mhz ram on dual channel

Any suggestions and opinions would be appreciated, thanks!

So roughly equal performance for 100€ less, that's interesting. I have a 960 that I will be putting on the server so the lack of an iGPU is not a concern.

In regards to intel's next gen, would it be prudent to wait for their pricing?
Unless your need is urgent, I might wait.
From experience watching Intel new gen introductions over the years, look to about a 15% price/performance boost.
Prices do not go down, but what you get is more for the same price.
The very top processors will command a premium and be in short supply.
The entry level chips may not be available initially.

If you see something you like now, that is ok to buy.
Intel will not reduce the price on current inventory. A retailer might.

I find it prudent to pay...
You're going to be fine with the amount of ram you have and with either of the processors though the Ryzen wouldbe...overkill unless you're going with a lot of players and a lot of mods.

What I'm curious about is how each would handle heavily modded sessions for both MC and other games, the fact that all 3 can support a server is something that I know.
 
Reading the link on server recommendations, it states that single thread cpu performance is what what is needed most.
To that end, the I3-12100f has a single thread passmark rating of 3550, the I5-12400F is 3531 and the 5600x is 3382.

Buy the non F version so that you get integrated graphics.
Otherwise, you will pay extra for a discrete graphics card which the 5600X also needs.

As to readiness for the next gen, that is coming in a month or so.
Intel next gen will work on current lga1700 motherboards after a bios update.
AMD next gen will need a new motherboard.

If you have a problem with a graphics card, integrated can keep you going.
I had a psu problem and a lower wattage spare psu could not run my discrete graphics card. Integrate graphics let me run while the psu was replaced.
