hi, first time to upgrade a case fan.. having a hard time choosing between a Noctua 3 pin 12V FLX or a Noctua 12V 4pin PWM.

from some info I read on other forums. FLX goes at max speed all the time, while PWM is controlled by the operating system?

I don't have problem with the fan being a little noisy, so might go with the FLX. Or is there some important reason to choose the PWM that I'm not seeing?

Solution
no. both can be controlled by the mainboard (given that it's not a 25% offbrand). one by adjusting the voltage (40-100%) the other one by PWM (20-100%).
to choose it kinda depends on your mainboard. some mainboards don't have true PWM headers for all SYS_FAN headers.
