12V undervolt!?

Hey guys, I'm having a strange but apparently not too serious problem. I just recently built a new rig with a gigabyte P35-DS3L motherboard, G0 Q6600, G.Skill 2x2 ram, 8800gt, and a Consair VX550 power supply. So far everything seems fine. Did a bit of light gaming and some small prime95 tests. Seems stable enough, except from one-time unrecoverable crash in Supreme Commander: FA (could be other issues). The odds thing is when I use SpeedFan, there's an info panel on the bottom that displays voltages. The readings are as follows (current):

Vcore1: 1.10V
Vcore2: 1.87V
+3.3V: 3.31V
+5V: 4.97V
+12V: 4.16V
-12V: -16.67V

-5V: -4.85V
+5v: 5.16V
Vbat: 3.07V

Everything seems pretty normal, except for the + and - 12V! On 3 different occasions, the +12V read -3.XX V, +3.XX V and now +4.XX V. But other than those readings, my comp seems fine. No crashes (except one mentioned), nothing. I thought if 12V was off that much, something far worse would happen or would not boot at all. So I'm confused, is SpeedFan reading stuff correctly (like it is doing for other voltages and temps) or should I just ignore this issue? :??:

Thanks for anyone who can shed any light on this issue, and I'm sorry if this has been answered before. (I tried searching before hand)

Try another program. My guess is that speedfan doesn't handle your new motherboard properly. You could also try combing through speedfans website looking for a motherboard profile that works with your system.

If you 12V was really running at 4.16V, you can bet things wouldn't work. If nothing else, your video card would be screaming something about low power.

If you have a multimeter, and you have a clear shot at he motherboard power connectors, and you are careful; you can check the PSU outputs under load.

You can use a DMM to check the PSU outputs - ground lead to a black wire on the mainpower cable. The yellow wires should read 12 volts, red wires should read 5 volts, and the orange wires should read 3.3 volts.

Mine says the same thing, 11.46 volts on the 12 volt rail. I checked it with my DVM and it reads 12.35 at the 24 Pin mobo connector.

Thanks for the replies guys =]

Glad to know it's not a big problem. Guess it's ok to overclock a bit now..

Btw, systemlord, is that screenshot from the demo with the waterfall, and the camera going into the forest, and then going into a cabin? Because it seems familiar..

I never saw any demo just the still pictures on that link above.
