Hey, I have an AMD 280X and I have a 144 Hz monitor connected to it through DVI. I also have a capture card connected to it with HDMI.

I am duplicating the signal from the GPU to the monitor/capture card but it seems like I cannot get my 144 Hz to display in anything else than 60 Hz. If I change the main display to 144 Hz, it will run in 144 Hz but the resolution will be completely fucked up.

I can connect the capture card by using HDMI-HDMI but it will not work since my GPU doesn't seem to support three monitors/devices at the same time without using one active adapter...

Understood. Now, I would get an active adapter (DP-DVI) and use it for one of the monitors, then use the HDMI-HDMI for the card (most logical solution, I also do not place bets that the capture card likes being used with adapters). I would advise you return that adapter, does not sound to be active. Buy a certified active adapter from the internet.

My monitors are DVI so I would like to use the two DVI ports on my GPU for my two monitors, and then an active DP->HDMI adapter for the capture card. I mean it's a digital signal and I've seen other people use the capture card with adapters before.

buy a DP splitter & HDMI adapter... one to the monitor 144hz one to the adapter -> capture device. I'm not sure sound will go through a DP to HDMI adapter but in theory it should. or dual link DVI splitter to HDMI adapter->capture device. but you will not get sound through that.
