150$, what am4 cpu?

I've got an am4 mobo, a 600w psu, rx 570 and 150$ to spend on a cpu (I can not spend more than this, that is the budget). What cpu should i get?

Please dont respond with "well save __ and buy __" Because that trail never ends, you can ALWAYS save more and buy something else. 150$ is the budget, firmly.

Depends on your mobo, but you really don't need the APU (video) of the second offering.

Thanks for the reply. I have a a320, not the best yeah i know. But i do not overclock my things so its not the end of the world for an average gamer like myself. Considering that, would you recommend to go with the 1500x over the 2200g?

Really up to you. You would need a BIOS update to use the 2200g. Regardless, either will meet your needs and you hard budget.

Excuse my ignorance. But i updated my motherboard to the latest bios, last week. Will that cover the 2200g?

Probably. What is the exact model and make of your motherboard? With that info we can determine what CPUs are compatible with it.

As long as your BIOS version is F10, or higher, you are good to go with the 2200g. Good luck.

You should be able to find a Ryzen 5 of some sort. I would prefer more cores/threads rather than a faster "X" CPU with fewer cores/threads, but that's just my preference.

Choose the first one that fits your budget from the following list. Prices vary slightly from one store to another:

Ryzen 5 1500x
Ryzen 5 2400G

Ryzen 3 1300x
Ryzen 3 2200G

They all work perfectly for your graphic.

The first two are approximately equal with a slight advantage for the Ryzen 5 1500x. Also the last two are almost the same with a slight advantage for the Ryzen 3 1300x.
If you can take the Ryzen 5 1500x is a very good chip.


Avoid Ryzen 5 1600 and Ryzen 5 1400 because with your motherboard you can not overclock and the stock speeds of these chips are low. The reviews of these chips are based on oc. and they can call you cheating.

The Ryzen 3 1200 is not on the list because it is too weak.

Thanks for the replies, im on f23 bios, i believe its the newest one.

I already own a 1200, i am looking to upgrade although its a great chip for the price i paid for it. I'll keep an eye out for a ryzen 5

I ended up getting a ryzen 5 2600 for 150$ exactly. Thanks for the recomendations, luckily bestbuy was able to price match amazon and new egg at 150$. They had it on the shelf at 200$
