Ok, so I created a thread here but had two big problems; 1.) I left too many options open, and 2.) put it too far in the future.

The goal of this thread is to please help me pick a power supply and video card to match my specs.

SO! Here is my rig that I am intending on building, and I would like to know what power supply would be the best for it.
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Blue RC-932-KKN3-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case
HD: Western Digital 1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"
Monitor:ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 (ASCR 20000:1) Built in Speakers
Mobo: ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO AMD Motherboard
Disk Drive: ASUS DVD-E818A6T/BLK/B/G Black 18X SATA DVD-ROM Drive - Bulk (16.99)
RAM: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT51264BA1339
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
SSD (For loading Windows): Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2/64GB 2.5" 64GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

So, what power supply is suggested?
Also, what video card is suggested? I'm debating these five

so, gonna take a shot at this. seeing as psu and gpu are all you need i tried looking for good deals on newegg.

psu and game combo: $129.98
XFX P1-650X-CAH9 650W ATX12V v2.2 / ESP12V v2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power ...
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty PC Game BLIZZARD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.454562

gpu and windows: $379.98
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM
XFX HD-585X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card w/ Eyefinity
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.437534.14-150-494

That would put you at a total of 1777.73 w/ shipping w/o mir. I put an os there since i didn't find one on your posts. you can also try this combo is you want to take the gpu down a notch.

gpu and windows: $259.98
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM
XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.437534.14-150-447

this would bring you to about 1657.73 w/ shipping w/o mir.

or you could go with this psu which is also highly recommended, though it may seem too much for your build it will give you some headroom to oc and whatnot just like the xfx above.

psu: $89.99
CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005&cm_re=corsair_power_supply-_-17-139-005-_-Product

this would bring you to about 1617.74 w/ shipping w/o mir. This is with the 5770 in mind. take note it will be cheaper if you already have an os. If not i really like the 5850, it would prolong the urge to buy new cards plus the 650 would be able to handle xfire but not sure if it can handle it if you do heavy oc. might want to bump up the wattage of your psu then. anyway hope i helped.

don't get the x6 it sucks at gaming the x4 955 beats it in every benchmark
8gb of ram for gaming is so overkill games don't use more than 4gb(and when games start using more than 8gb you will have a new computer anyways)

here is a build for $1,372.82 before $50 rebates and it's cf ready

odd: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136180

hdd: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148433

monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236052

ssd: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139132

cpu+gpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.442795

mobo+ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.453710

this build can max out any game at that resoloution and it's very future proof.

Yeah, I have Win 7 64 bit Ultimate waiting, so I don't need the OS. I was using the power Supply Calulator on New Egg and regardless of how I spun it I needed 500 to have about 40 Watt head room.

So first off the bat: I never ran across the XFX brand, definitely going to check it out. I think I'll have enough room in my budget for it as well. I will keep the 5770 bookmarked too.
I was looking at the Corsair and I have had that specific PSU pop up about 4 different times. It's super affordable and if I build a new machine it will be able to have a huge overhead that I can carry over. :)

I was looking at the HIS H485FM1GH Radeon HD 4850 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card . Why choose the X585 over that?

Thanks for the heads up on the x6. I have been going back and forth on the 965/955/1090 for weeks.
Trying to avoid that Antec case. It just doesn't do it for me. Althought, the PSY definitely looks good.
I want to double check that mobo and RAM Combo. That SSD was what I was looking for, and the HDD is something I've been going back and forth over. Why the Baracuda over the WD?

for that resoloution you would need a minimum of a 5850

the 4850 is very old and can't handle any of todays games

corsair's tx's are also outdated the tp-750 is a much better choice

i mean why cheap out if u have the money??

Forget the 5 GPUs you looked at. You are building a very nice system, but the cards you picked are all budget - if you ty playing at your HD resolution those cards will struggle and you will have to lower quality settings.

In general, when gaming, the GPU trumps the CPU for importance. So saving on a CPU to get a GPU is worthwile. Lucky for you, you are overspending on the CPU already - as stated above, the x6 offers nothing for gaming and the cheaper x4 955 will be better performance.

Also as stated above, going beyond 4gb for gaming is pointless at the moment and will be for some time, so drop to 4gb, ideally G Skill due to high speed, low latency, great price: $105
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231321&cm_re=g_skill_1600_ddr3-_-20-231-321-_-Product

The money saved should allow for a 5850 which is a great card (I would not get any weaker a card if gaming at HD, with the possible exception of the GTX460, but that is mainly for SLIing 2 of them which you wont do on an AMD build without special mobos)

As for PSU, the XFX 650w is fantastic quality and well worth getting. Or, if you want more powerful you can go with a Corsair 750W (For overclocking and Crossfiring in future)

There is a great deal for the Antec 902 (very good case) and XFX PSU atm - $144.94
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.454719

I know you said the Antec case does not do it for you, but I still put the combo in there because it really is an excellent deal.

Hmmm, the F3 and the Seagate are a toss up. Which one lasts longer?

As for the Antec, I know it's an amazing tower, but I have been focusing on full towers.

The RAM I don't doubt the quality, it's the Mobo I'm wondering on.

And I'm looking at Graphic Cards and they are just hella expensive, lol. Gonna re-build my rig a bit and see how much I have left over.

Is the general consensus to get the 650 Corsair?

gigabyte and asus are tier 1 in mobo's even there lowest end ones are very high quality

the f3 is higher quality do with that (i mean all samsuing's products are high quality that's why they are the top electronics manufacturer in the world)

@ Mr.Hoshos96: Yeah, I just did a side by side comparison of Gigabyte and ASUS. ASUS won it because the board you recommended didn't have HDMI and a few other rear panel ports were excessive.

BUT! The good news is I now have my grand total down to 1040.40, which means I can drop about 450 on a graphics card. The Mobo I'm using is till the same ASUS M4A88TD found here SO! New price range opened up on the graphics card: 450 dollars. Suggestions? Preferably HDMI compatible.

i vote for either xfx/corsair 650w, but as stated by asteldian if you plan on xfiring and doing medium to heavy ocing it would be safe to bump it up a notch to the 750w corsair (either the modular or non-modular one, though the option of the modular psu does wonders for cable management). as for gpu, i believe mrhoshos96 got a good combo there it would be worth it to spend the extra dough. it would keep your hunger sated until you find the need to xfire them down the road. it would be able to handle pretty much anything with on a 1900x1080 res screen. Thumbs up on the find.

As for the case i see you like full towers. My vote goes to the HAF X. I like it better than the HAF 932. Also lots of improvements over the 932 model.

mm with the rest of the money u can upgrade ur mobo to an m4a89gtd pro/usb3 i like it a lot 😀 an di think i will get it and get a 5870 or u can dont buy the ssd now becoase they are very expensive now and get a 5970

Personally I would not go with the board you picked. Its second PCI-E slot is at x4 speed. THat will cripple you if you put in a second card at any point. You want at least x8/x8 like this Asus board
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131631&cm_re=asus_890-_-13-131-631-_-Product

It costs about $30 so it leaves you with $420 for a GPU.

In case you want to OC and XFire in the future I would grab extra juice from the PSU. So, Corsair 750W at $100 which I believe is same sort of price as the XFX 650W withuot a combo deal. But just in case lets assume it leaves you with $400 for the GPU. That still leaves plenty of money for a 5870

don't get the asus just because of an hdmi and a usb port you will loose a great combo and the capability of crossfire in the future plus the 5870 already has an hdmi.

yes the asus can cf but only at x4 which is a huge bottle neck for the gpu.

Yeah I was definitely looking at the HAF X, and debated for an hour between that and the 932. Asthetically, I like the 932 more. Trust me, it was a hella hard choice. And I bumped it up to 750W Corsair too, though what is the difference between modular and non-modular?

@ Asteldian: I took a LOT of your advice, so thanks for that. And I did drop the SSD. Definitely picked the RAM again but what you suggested was for 1600, and the Mobo I am looking at (Both the Asus I picked out and the Gigabyte from Mr.hoshos) don't support 1600, only up to 1333, and then 2k at OC for the Gigabyte.

I am looking at the m4a89gtd pro/usb3, side by side to the other mobos. Freaking A I never thought Motherboards could be so freaking difficult.

yup the combo seems great and like mrhoshos96 said the gpu already has hdmi. I didn't notice you had your gpu budget bumped up. As juanchioo suggested you could drop the ssd to improve your gpu even more. Checked newegg and they had 5970's for $680 a pop. But that's just splurging. So just get the 5870 and you'd still be happy.

Yeah, I am getting that Corsair, and thanks for the long post you made, then deleted 😉 Still read it and ALL the information was amazing.

And I've said this before but I'm also trying to avoid combos for the moment. Money is weird right now so i may have to wait on this build.

Is the general consensus the Gigabyte board that Mr.Hos suggested?

Yeah, I guess I'll switch the Mobo out for the Gigabyte. Still, like was mentioned, I can drop about 400 on a Graphics card right now. Any non-combo suggestions?
