Hi,

Im was thinking of getting a monitor today so I went into one of the shops to see what was available. There were 2 monitors 1x 16:9 and the other 16:10. I said to the guy that I was going to use it for graphic programs for drawing etc and he said to get the 16:10 as when using the 16:9 when you draw a circle in photoshop it comes out as an oval??
This seems really bizarre to me but is it true?

I would have thought if you set the correct resolution to a monitor it should come out as you paint. but If you set a 16:10 monitor to a resolution of lets say 16:9 it would actually come out as an oval because the pixels are stretched?

Any info would be appreciated...

It doesn't matter actually. Screen resolution only refers to the width and height of
the screen (you're looking at) where it affects how wide and how tall an application
would open and extends to the point of what your monitor's resolution currently is set to.

-- To make it short.
As far as web and graphic design is concerned, web and graphic editing apps
widely supports any aspect ratio and resolution of any modern CRT and LCD
monitor.

Meaning???...

The higher the resolution in any given aspect ratio, the wider and taller your
graphic application will open and the better you can use it. Whatever web or
graphic design application(s) you're using, screen resolutions only affects the real
estate aspect of the application and not its functions or how it renders or displays
objects whether a monitor has a 16:10, 16:9 or 5:4 aspect ratio, still, a circle
would still look very very circle and not oval.

Hope this helps :)
