Question 16:9 widescreen on 5:4 monitor

hello!

idk if this question was asked before but i want to know if there's a way to set the screen's aspect ratio to 16:9 to fit into a 5:4 monitor with black bars on the top and bottom.

i have a 1280x1024 monitor but sometimes i want to display the screen as 1280x720 without it being stretched out to fit the monitor's aspect ratio, maybe with black bars to fill the gaps

if anyone knows the settings or a program to make that happens please reply, thank you!

ok the windows display settings kinda works, but the when i set it the screen shows "input signal out of range - change settings to 1280x1080 60hz"

is there a way to avoide this? like instead of sending the signal as 1280x720 directly, it sends 1280x1080 but have the 720p resolution included with black bars?
