I have a Corsair Vengeance Pro ddr3 1600mhz (2x4gb) memory kit in dual channel, and for some reason it's clocked at 1333 mhz instead of 1600. How do I change the speed to 1600mhz?

Motherboard: Msi z97 gaming 9 AC
Processor: Intel Core i7 4790k

Like Rogue said, you probably need to go into your BIOS and set the memory speed to 1600 as most motherboard recognize ram as 1333 by default. There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to do this, should you need help.

Thanks for the fast respond, but sorry, no idea how to check if my memory is on that list, could only find corsair vengeance (dunno if there is any difference between vengeance and vengeance pro). How do I change that in the BIOS? Do I need to change anything else than the speed itself then?

You need the exact model number of the memory, it should be on the package somewhere, or it might be on a label on the actual memory. Maybe your receipt from the store you bought it too.

In the BIOS under "OC settings" look for DRAM settings and then memory frequency and set it to 1600 (from Auto).

If the memory is not in the list this MIGHT make the system unstable, but at least you'll be able to get back into the BIOS and set it back to Auto and live with it at 1333.

Guys, I went and explored the BIOS and changed the memory profile to XMP and now it's running at 1600mhz! Do I need to anything else now? 😵 Otherwise, thanks allot for the quick responses, I really appreciate it!! 😀

You should be fine, if it starts running unstable you will need to turn it off and go back down to 1333. Otherwise enjoy!
