1600mhz RAM on a 1333mhz slot?

Is it possible to put 1600mhz on a 1333mhz slot?
(and of course I dont expect it to be running 1600mhz)

I'm currently running 3 x 2GB and want to switch to 2 x 4GB.

Note: I will be getting a new motherboard sometime next year that will be 1600mhz capable.

it will work, i run 1600MHz ram on my phII system, of course it's running at 1050 atm but that's besides the point
