So I have a 24' Samsung monitor plugged into my computer A. It is connect with a VGA cable with a DVI adapter for the video card. I needed to unplug it to connect computer B and see if it works. When I was done, I hooked up my computer A back and the resolution changed from 1920x1080 to 1600x1200 and it won't let me set it up higher. I tried to reinstall the drivers, but it doesn't seem to help. The monitor is fine, I can set 1080 on different computers. Does anyone know what seems to be the problem?

Solution
if you have AMD card do this ; go to ccc vision center --> my VGA displays --> properties VGA display --> unbox the EDI thing --> maximum res. 1920x1080.

had the same problem with my monitor, resolution didnt go above 1400x900 ( got 1680x1050 ) fixed with above

Similar problem: Reloaded windows 7, resolution is now 1680x1050. It used to be 1920x1200, and I cannot seem to get it back using windows screen resolution function or the Catalyst program. I installed the latest AMD760G driver and that didn't help. Does anyoneknow more about this?

I had similiar problem. I have LG Flatron W2230S, 22'' (native resolution is 1920x1080) and AMD Radeon 7770. On right click -> Properties, highest resolution is 1600x1200. When I try to change resolution under desktop properties in CCC, it automaticly changes refresh rate on 29 Hz, and when I press apply, my screen goes black and says "out of range".. When I try your soulution, it only works unitl I restart my PC. It's set up for 1920x1080, and all is fine but when I restart PC it goes black again, and says " out of range" ... What should I do? Please, help !

In the Nvidia Control panel, select change resolution. It will only list 1600x1200, but if you look below there should be a button called "customize" or something. Press it, and it will list a whole range of resolutions. Find 1920x1080 @ 32bit 60htz and add it to resolutions. Now select it and apply. If it doesn't work, make sure your VGA connection is tight. If it is, change VGA cable.
