I have a Netgear WN2000 wireless router and a WN802 access point. My internet connection is into a modem, out into the router, and out to the PC. I'm trying to set up the access point. The instructions say connect the PC to the access point with a ethernet cable. If I do this I loose the internet to the PC. Where did I go wrong?

Solution
To set up an access point connect an LAN port on the WN2000 to an LAN port on the WN802. Then assign the WN802 an IP address in the network range but outside of the DHCP range by using a reserved DHCP address or a static address for the AP. Next go into the configuration of the WN802 -- you may need to connect via an Ethernet cable for the initial setup (and no you will not get any Internet from the AP until everything is set up). Then give the AP the same network ID (SSID) and security passphrase as the WN2000 but use a different set of radio channels.

So for example if the WN2000 is 192.168.0.1 you could just set the DHCP assignment range to 192.168.0.2 to .232 and make the AP .233 -- which I think is the default value on that...
