I have a 1tb hard drive on my laptop, but the capacity available is only about 240GB. It's been like this since I bought the laptop. I've tried looking at Disk management if there's any unallocated space but that is not the case. BIOS as well as the Intel RST -app show the right capacity. Tried running chkdsk and EaseUS surface test and the hard drive should be fine. Drivers should be up to date, I tried switching from Intel 300 Series Chipset family SATA AHCI controller to the standard SATA AHCI controller but that did nothing. I have run out of options so I would greatly appreciate if you guys could help me!

Laptop: MSI GV62 8RC
HDD: WDC WD10SPZX-17Z10T1

Are you sure that specific model laptop comes with a 240gb ssd, or a 1tb hdd? The MSI laptops I see with your specs are just running an ssd.
Yes I'm sure it has a 1tb hdd. That's what it said on the site I bought this from, that's what the BIOS info says and I looked inside the laptop and that's what reads on the actual hard drive

Part number of the drive in question?
Info from both Speccy and eyeball whats written on it.

And is this a spinning hard drive, or a 2.5" SSD?
It's a hard drive not an ssd. Info from speccy:
