Hello,
I want to remove DVD-RAM out of my ASUS X75VB and I want replace it by 2,5" HDD/SSD caddy. I am asking for an info how fast would be SATA interface for DVD-RAM, because I want buy an SSD to this caddy (I have already one SSD as main drive).
Sorry for my english and thanks for replies.

The slot for the DVD drive is the same speed as any other SATA connection in the device and is most likely a SATA III connection which would be 6Gbps, which normally maxes out around 550MB/s.

However it depends on the exact chipset the system has, per Asus website it could be the H76M or H70M. The H76M has 2 SATA 6Gbps ports while the H70M only has one.

I asked because slower SATA (1 or 2) would be cheaper or something. Manufacturers want to make laptops as cheap as possible.
