2 machines need recommendations

1 machine is running an i7 920 - can't be overclocked. Other machine has a g3258 running @ 4.2ghz. I have a 6970 video card. I know neither setup is high end but one machine will run 24/7 as a media server (serverWMC, sharing out recordings, movie files, etc) other machine will be for kids to game on. The 6970 will go in the gaming machine. Which setup to put the video card in? Thanks in advance.

The i7 920 because it has 4 cores and 8 threads. The pentium only has 2 cores 2 threads.
Not to mention the i7's 8MB cache though.

Yes the i7 has more cores and thread that the activities this PC will be used for will never use..

You don't need the i7 for media server. It's simply overkill if you're only using it for in-home.
The pentium will get the job done as a media server.

To clarify, the media server will be on 24/7 and in addition to the tasks I listed it will run a VM and also be running bluestacks. The other machine will get the video card and my kids will use it mainly just on the weekend for gaming and occasional misc. use during the week. Thanks again for any suggestions!

So are you saying the machine to put the video card in is the i7?
