hey guys, first thing first, i dunno where to put this thread, to graphics card or monitor, but because both of them connected to graphics card, so why not lol, sorry if i misplace this thread

about 3 months ago, i buy Sapphire AMD R9 390 for my first desktop build, until couple days ago i only use 1 monitor on it, for work reasons i bought another monitor with the same exact brand and type for it , its Benq GW2270

everything works well except the monitor color very different, i already tried everything like calibrate the color, brightness, like everything, but i cant make it the same

dunno if this GPU fault or the monitor fault, any help will be much appreciated

note : i use HDMI to the main monitor, and HDMI to DVI adaptor for the second one

Solution
Thank you for sharing the video, great idea. We have indeed the same problem. I tested mine on a PC with a GTX 960 and image is normal, or very close to what it should be. In my case it was caused - or greatly afected - by the old and weak integrated GPU. In a dual setup, I could not make the colors perfectly match with the Asus monitor (TN panel) in that PC, but image was ok. I only tried for a couple minutes, anyway. Maybe my monitor has slightly lower quality than average for this model, hard to say.

Since you plugged your new monitor alone, with a good cable, to a powerful GPU and still got a bad image, I'd very surprised if it's not a faulty monitor. Really, it should be plug, do minor adjustments and get perfect images.
Hi, I'm sorry I can't help. I have a similar problem, just got a BenQ GW2270 as a second monitor for my 4 years old 720p notebook (i3 2310M integrated) and can't get a decent image. Tried everything too, still get a yellowish filter-like effect. Notebook's display looks way better lol, clear whites, nice colors. Connected through the VGA cable that came in the box, my notebook only have that option.

Can you please tell us exactly what is wrong with the color in yours?

almost exact problem, theres like weird brown-ish tint in front of the monitor, even tho the first monitor which is the exact brand works fine and clear

I'm my case, I believe the i3 2310M integrated graphics can't handle 2 displays properly or I'm missing some key configuration. It helps quite a bit if I turn notebook's display off. The tint in the monitor image gets reduced significantly, although it's not as good as this monitor can get.

Did you tried one monitor at the time? How about setting the new monitor as "Display 1"? The R9 390 should handle multiple displays like this easily, so I guess we could be missing a key setting or it's a faulty monitor. I'll post here if I get anything else, I know how frustrating this is.

Edit: So far I only found similar issues with different models/brands, some related to low quality HDMI adapters, others related to plugging second monitor to the motherboard HDMI port instead to the GPU.

We should both test our new monitors in different PCs to rule out fault monitors, of course. Additionally, if you have doubts about your adapter and you have access to another one, give it a try.

hi, thanks for the reply, already try those (except the one with another PC), still the problem persist, i even bought the same hdmi cable brand, and switch it up, just use 1 monitor etc, i just send a letter to benq support with video proof (sorry for the potato phone camera) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqBrwDTsXkY, hopefully they can rule out the problem, at least i hope i can RMA it

Solution

it probably is

BUT, i just googling around, and found that you might need to try to set the hdmi rgb color range on new monitor, the problem is i cant select it from the setting, already try every picture mode and still can't access it, and the support not give much help either, they have solution for Nvidia, but nothing for AMD afaik reading the troubleshoot file
