2000:1 contrast ratio?

I was about ready to order my Samsung 20" Widescreen but i decided to look and see if getting a 19" would be considerably cheaper. I came upon this monitor which had a 2000:1 contrast ratio, 19" Widescreen, and was cheaper. I am just wondering if i should get the 19" because of the greatly increased contrast and the same price, around $200.

Only problem is that the 19" doesn't have the increased resolution that the 20" has

That's dynamic contrast as opposed to the standard static contrast usually stated by manufacturers. It's merely a marketing scheme used to attract buyers. The real contrast ratio will most likely be about 800:1.

It's kinda like response time numbers. The old standard was BTB (black to black), now it's GTG (gray to gray). If a monitor was advertised as "A" with BTB response time of 16ms and "B" had a GTG response time of 2ms, you can bet everyone will rush to buy monitor "B" even though they are both one and the same.
